The Idea of the Muse
Stefano Resta and the Rhythm Inventors
2004
The idea of the muse: a transcendent presence, nine mystical forms in the sunlight, organic, real. To know that we do not know is to enter the garden of dreams. Reach deep into a windfall, discover free-form, unstructured formlessness. Everything is personal and everything is collective.
The intent of this recording project has been to create an instrumentally simple, musically complex collection of nine tracks (after to the nine muses) using primarily acoustic sounds to create a sense of auditory dimensionality, multiple possibilities in a singular instance, strings, wind instruments, percussive elements. |

Under the Curve of Blue
Stefano Resta and the Rhythm Inventors
1999
The Stefano Resta and the Rhythm Inventors CD starts out with an intense bass workout that got my antenna up and working right off the bat
the musicians
all play inspired. The music on this CD defies genre, almost like beat poetry from the fifties. The second song, From Stone to Star, is very romantic with lovely accordion and violin that had me wanting candlelight and pasta. A Chili Pepper
for Inspiration is next, and this is where the band really starts to earn its name - its got everything! A great groove, solid percussion, great guitar, and a chant in the background that gave me chicken skin. This CD truly has a world beat feel! From the reggae of Incantations, to the moody piano of Homage to Venus and the New Moon. There is no category for this collection, just great poetry and music mixed in one very
nice alchemy of emotion. As you can tell, I like this CD very much, the sound quality and musicianship is world class. Stefano Resta has made a very fine debut.
